Water Vapour in the atmosphere

• The vapour content in the atmosphere ranges between zero and 5 percent by volume. Clinically water vapor is very important constituent of the atmosphere .
• The atmospheric vapour is received through evaporation of moisture and water from water bodies, vegetation and soil cover.
• Vapour depends on temperature and therefore it decreases from equator to poleward in response to decreasing temperature towards the poles.
• The content of vapour also decreases upwards( altitude).
• More than 90 percent of total atmosphere vapour is found upto a height of 5 km. Hence statement 3 is correct.
